Fast and friendly! They fixed my AC in less than a day and it was reasonably priced. I brought my car in last minute. They quickly looked at it while I waited to see if I needed to leave it.

Dino was a champ. He let me know up front what the repair timeline would be for new brake pads, warped rotors, and seized caliper pins on top of replacing the engine thermostat and a few other things. This shop did outstanding work and fixed some major problems that another local shop had created. Two thumbs up to the guys at this shop. While nobody looks forward to having to take their car in for work, these gents made it as painless as possible.

They were very pleasant and they repaired fast not a long wait and he kept me posted.

Greg’s was great! Easy to get fit into the shop schedule, reasonably priced, and very transparent about the issues. I came in for a diagnostic check and they actually sent me a video of the issue, then called me to talk about pricing to make the repair. I selected them because they were close to my home, and I will be returning for their service.

It is said that an honest mechanic is hard to find. Not so if you live near Greg's Automotive Service. Greg and his team offer phenomenal service. They always give you a quote before charging and are incredibly transparent in everything they do. I do not know a lot about cars so it was important for me to find a mechanic that would help me understand what was going on with the car and not take advantage of me. They often go above and beyond in their service. Last time, I took my car in because it did not pass inspection. They fixed everything and to my surprise, they took it in to get it past inspection for me without any extra charge. That's just the kind of guy Greg is. Also, at the end of 2021, I got a call from the team asking me to come by when I could. I thought something was wrong with the car, but it turns out they just wanted to give me a free bottle of wine to thank me for giving them their business! If I could give them six or seven stars I would. Please don't pay attention to any negative reviews. I can assure you that this is the best service that you will find in all of Alexandria!

I was driving past this shop when my tire pressure light came on. I was scared to keep driving in case the tire blew or something. I pulled into the lot—no appointment—and asked for help. One of the guys working here checked all my tires and found a leak in one. Who knows what would have happened if I’d ignored that light! I’m so grateful that they stopped and helped me today. 10/5 stars!

While searching and trying garage after garage in NoVa searching for a reliable & honest place to have my Jeep worked on I finally found Greg's Automotive. I haven't been to another garage since. At most garages you walk out feeling like you have just been gouged. I realize everything is expensive in NoVa but I always feel like Greg has gave me a fair deal. Just today my Jeep overheated with steam coming from under the hood, I took it to Greg's and he replaced the heater hose. I went to pay the bill and he replied, "don't worry about it, it was small we will work it out next time" I have to say, You will not find that kind of service anywhere else! Thank you Greg

My car was taken to Greg's Automotive Service & I'll be honest I first tested my car before and after I gave them a 5 star and posted a comment. It's been almost seven days that I had my car back from Greg's automotive service and I haven't had any issues with my Volkswagen 2017 Jetta gli. First time I took it to do an transmission fluid and oil change and they did a great job. Then in three days after I went back to change my brakes and they did a good job too. Price was fair he didn't charge me extra for bring my parts and fluids he did say that, "we do charge extra for bring your bring your Owen parts". But the mechanic was honest & knowledgeable about what he was saying. And I agree what he said because first if it was I and I had a shop I would charge customers for bring their parts and fluids and second if something happen to your car for not having the right part number or right fluid that would be the customer fault. But this mechanic was fair. I just wish he would of gave me the old brake pads and if I had extra oil or fluid transmission to gave it to me. But next I'll just ask if their was extra oil from the one I brought because that could me useful if my car eats a lot off oil knowing me I like to put the paddle to the mettle. Well anyways I just wanna give thanks to all the mechanics and Greg's automotive for everything they do know about Germany cars. If anyone has Germany cars and are around the area I recommend them.

Greg, and Leo, are great. I have taken two different vehicles of mine for various repairs over the years and have never been disappointed. I have never been taken advantage of, as some other reviewers hint at, and I’ve always been able to have an honest discussion on what services need to be done. I would recommend this as a solid neighborhood mechanic shop for most needs.

I've brought my Volkswagen Passat, over the past many years, to a half dozen places in Alexandria. By far, Greg's has been the best. Repairs have included suspension, engine repairs, brakes, and maintenance items like replacing fluids/timing belt/water pump/etc.

He has always given me an accurate estimate to the actual repairs and work is generally ready when he said it would be. I've never had to bring it back for something not done correctly (like I have for virtually every other place I've brought it to). For some bigger repairs, I've also brought it to the dealer for an estimate on the same repairs. His prices are significantly (maybe 35% or so) lower than the dealer for the same service. For me, he's always used genuine VW parts. His shop is clean and organized. I'm happy to have found Greg's.

I highly recommend Greg's Automotive - they have serviced my vehicles several times and they always provide great service at fair prices, and make an effort to respect their customers time and schedule. Good to have them in the neighborhood.

This review is long overdue. Both my husband and I have visited Greg's on several different occasions over the last few years and have had only the best experiences! I first visited Greg's shortly after moving to Alexandria. Being a woman, I have found it necessary over the years to do my research once I am told the problems with my car, getting price estimates from several shops so as not to get ripped off. I had gone to another auto shop in Alexandria (to remain unnamed) and the men there attempted to charge me triple the price on a repair making me swear that I would find a new shop.

I took a chance on Greg's and didn't look any further after that. First, Greg and his employees ALWAYS treated me with kindness and respect (not as if I were stupid). They answered my questions and explained the problems in detail and with patience. When I had a very bad problem and needed expensive parts, Greg took me into the garage, walked me under my own car and showed me what part I had, what had happened, discussed a couple of different options, and the benefits to each. And it ended up being cheaper than I thought! After being treated as completely ignorant by men in other repair shops and always dreading taking my car in for anything, I felt I had found a friend in Greg's.

After using them for 3 years, I simply cannot recommend Greg's Automotive enough. The prices are competitive, they allow drop-offs before they open, they call you when it's done, they have even offered me coffee in the morning when they were making a pot. These are kind, good, honest men who deserve Alexandria's business.

We had car trouble in Fredricksurg VA on a Sunday. There were no car repair shops open. We had our car towed to Regan National Airport and rented a car so we could continue to NY as my husband had surgery on Monday. I searched the Internet and came up with 10 repair shops to call. I called several explaining our problem, what I thought was wrong (the break caliper etc). I called Greg's and spoke to Leo. He said if we could get the car to him before 12 noon he could do his best to finish that day. Other shops could not even give me an appointment or any idea of how long to fix (including the Hyundai dealer). We drove back down to Washington and brought to car to Leo at Greg's. He explained that there might be more to the repair than I originally thought. He worked on the car and showed us the brake/bearing/caliper/hose issues. He was able to fix the car and we were able to go home that day. He was honest, pleasant, and got the job done.

I had the pleasure of finding Greg's shop when I discovered my BMW had a coolant leak. After researching and gathering several estimates I went with this shop. Service from a operational standpoint as well as Customer service were top notch. My car was repaired in 24hrs, they added a few extra features "just to make me happy", seriously a quote and I feel confident in their work. I'm very thankful to have found Greg's and would recommend them to anyone.

I trust these folks. Yelp reviews seem to imply that one should talk to the head guys at Greg's. This could be true, as that's what I have done the three times I've been there. They have been unfailingly polite each time. Parts seemed a bit costly, but when I checked online, they had provided best price for decent quality. Last time, I was in for exhaust & catalytic converter. But, when I get in car, the radio starts up. It had shorted out 10 years ago (I have 2001 Camry) and I had to remove the fuse. Not only had they fixed it for free, they hadn't even bothered to mention anything. Heck yes, I recommend them!

Amazing! We are in town from Nebraska and my suspension started acting up. A call to Greg's, they were able to see us ASAP. After getting ripped off at another local mechanic (hint: located in Shirlington), I took my car to Greg's on a recommendation and I was happy with the service. I've been back a few times since, and I always felt like they were dealing with me fairly. You can leave your car there at night and often pick it up fixed the next day. Sometimes the price is more than they estimated, but I suppose that's the nature of the business, and they are always willing to show you the reason why on the car itself. For example, your car may require special steps or something else might be broken. I've never caught them doing anything dishonest, and the last time they found a cheaper part while I was waiting and actually saved me some money. I recommend trying them out.

Went there yesterday for a repair to my undercarriage. I told Greg that I needed the repair as quickly as possible and he was able to have me in and out in the same day. Greg is very honest, reliable, and efficient. This was demonstrated when he uncovered another issue with my car (my sway bar was broken) and instead of repairing it on his own and slapping me with a higher charge, he called me and allowed me to decide if I wanted to shell out more cash to have it repaired. I'll definitely be using this place in the future.

Excellent service. Honest and friendly people and best of all, prices are reasonable and work is done professionally. I came in the 1st time right before closing time and I had a blown fuse. Greg took the time to inspect the fuses and replaced the bad one. Second visit was for a bulb replacement. Perfect again! I will be recommending Greg's to my family and friends for sure.
